The Nutty Professor
Ever since Eddie Murphy‘s stand-up days, people have seen his penchant for acting out different characters from his family for extended scenes. Saturday Night Live allowed Murphy to inhabit different characters for sketches. Beverly Hills Cop let Murphy run wild with scenarios involving Axel Foley inventing characters on the spot. Coming to America secretly inserted Murphy and Arsenio Hall into multiple roles. When The Nutty Professor was released, a big part of the buzz on the film was that Murphy was able to act out entire scenes with him playing nearly all the roles.
4K Blu-ray
Blu-ray.com is now reporting that Eddie Murphy’s remake of The Nutty Professor from 1996 is now getting a 4K Blu-ray release from the boutique label Kino Lorber. The new physical media release is slated to hit retailers on December 22, so get those Christmas lists ready!
The description reads,
“Brilliant and obese scientist Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy) invents a miraculous weight-loss solution. After a date with chemistry student Carla Purty (Jada Pinkett) goes badly, a depressed Klump tries the solution on himself. Though he instantly loses 250 pounds, the side effects include a second personality: an obnoxiously self-assertive braggart who calls himself Buddy Love. Buddy proves to be more popular than Sherman, but his arrogance and bad behavior quickly spiral out of control.”
