No doubt a result of Lizzy Olsen’s star-making turn as the titular MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, Open Road and Liddell Entertainment have decided to put the young lady’s other horrific thriller, SILENT HOUSE, in as many theaters as possible.
While the number of screens it’ll play on is uncertain, word is SILENT HOUSE has been given a March 9, 2012 release date.
From OPEN WATER filmmakers Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, SILENT HOUSE follows a young woman whose panic grows into terror as she finds herself sealed inside her family’s crumbling lake house with no way to contact the outside world.
Remember, SILENT HOUSE is a remake of THE SILENT HOUSE, a Uruguayan horror flick from Gustavo Hernandez. Remake or not, I’m actually pretty stoked for this younger Olsen sibling…if only because she’s proving some worth to the namesake. Better yet, we need stronger roles for woman in movies, of all ages, so to see this girl land plaudits for two harrowing genre performances in one year, it’s quite nice!
Adam Trese, Haley Murphy, Ada Barnett, Eric Sheffer Stevens and Julia Taylor Ross also play a role in SILENT HOUSE, which, again, opens March 9, 2012.
