You guys a fan of Bryan Bertino’s THE STRANGERS?
I am, as proven in an opening screed I wrote near the end of March when discussing the status of a sequel to the Rogue Pictures sleeper hit. Well, as we await that project, to be directed by Lauren Briet from a Bertino screenplay, it appears Bertino (shown above) has secured his next writing/directing foray.
Word out of Deadline Hollywood has it that Bertino will write and direct a fact-based thriller called THIS MAN for Ghost House Pictures. Okay, but what’s this shite all about? Scope it…
The protagonist of THIS MAN is an ordinary man who discovers that people he has never met have somehow seen him in their nightmares. Ghost House has acquired rights to a website that was created by Italian sociologist Andrea Natella to connect those who saw the actual man in their dreams.
Good grief, I know A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET culled some major green last weekend, but damn. I wouldn’t be surprised if a new sleep or dream related horror flick comes out every few months until the Freddy is sent packing to the grave once and for all (box-office cemetery, anyway).
About the project, a Ghost House rep beamed the film is: “a hair raising story that will be sure to delight horror fans.”
I’ll just finish with this. If Bertino takes the lean, no excess approach to THIS MAN that he did on THE STRANGERS, I’ll be among the first in line to see this shite!
Let’s hear it folks, you down with this project as Bertino’s next? Is it too obviously an ELM STREET coattail rider? Would you prefer Bertino to direct THE STRANGERS 2 instead?
Let us know!
THE STRANGERS star, Liv Tyler!
