The Timelines of Halloween: Episode 3 looks at the H20 timeline

The Halloween franchise is split into several different timelines, as new entries in the series have ignored previous entries on multiple occasions. There are so many alternate realities in this franchise, we’ve created a video series in an attempt to figure it all out – a series appropriately titled The Timelines of Halloween. In the newly released episode, we’re taking a look at the “H20 Timeline“, which was created when 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later came along and decided to ignore the events of parts 4, 5, and 6 so it could serve as a direct sequel to the first and second films. Check it out in the embed above!

Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the role of Halloween 1 and 2 heroine Laurie Strode – a character other sequels had said was dead – in H20. Directed by Steve Miner from a screenplay by Robert Zappia and Matt Greenberg (with an uncredited rewrite from Kevin Williamson), the film has the following synopsis:

Two decades after surviving a massacre on October 31, 1978, former baby sitter Laurie Strode finds herself hunted by persistent knife-wielder Michael Myers. Laurie now lives in Northern California under an assumed name, where she works as the headmistress of a private school. But it’s not far enough to escape Myers, who soon discovers her whereabouts. As Halloween descends upon Laurie’s peaceful community, a feeling of dread weighs upon her — with good reason.

The next film in the H20 Timeline was 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection. Directed by Rick Rosenthal and written by Larry Brand and Sean Hood, that film kills Laurie off in the opening sequence and continues on with this story:

The original house of horrors, the dilapidated home of infamous serial killer Michael Myers, has now become the set of a webcam reality show. But when the veteran slasher discovers that a group of university students has taken over his old killing grounds, he decides it’s time to bring the blades out of retirement.

Unfortunately, Resurrection ran this timeline into the ground right away.

This episode of The Timelines of Halloween was Written by Bryan Wolford, Edited by Lance Vlcek, and Narrated by Shawn Knippleberg. The series is Produced by John Fallon and Lance Vlcek, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
