The trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire promises death and destruction

I am pleasantly surprised.

The first teaser trailer for 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE looks to be just as exciting and action packed as its predecessor. As you will also be able to tell, the style is there as well. I wouldn’t say “I’m sold” but there are more positives than negatives.

We pick up at the devastating end of the last film and are taken right into the next battle. What’s the best thing about this? Eva Green, and don’t try to tell me otherwise. How sexy is her voice?! There’s really a good balance of powerful women here with Lena Heady back as Queen Gorgo. While this is a rather lengthy teaser, I’d like to see more of the story. Hit ’em with the action first and give them story later. Does Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) even stand a chance?

After its victory over Leonidas’ 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes’ army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE directed by Noam Murro (SMART PEOPLE) hits theaters March 7, 2014.
