Well at least it’s looking like Hopkins has a co-star. Variety are reporting that Colin O’Donoghue is being eyed to star in THE RITE opposite Hopkins. O’Donoghue can most recently be seen in Showtime’s THE TUDORS. Mind you this isn’t a done deal yet but he is in final talks so I’d be willing to put money down that O’Donoghue gets the job. THE RITE is actually based on the novel “The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist” by Matt Baglio. Here’s the rundown:
Based on true events, the story centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.
One can assume O’Donoghue (below) will be playing the disillusioned student. Now I haven’t seen much of O’Donoghue but you really can’t go wrong with Anthony Hopkins, so that pretty much slaps THE RITE on the ‘one to watch’ list. What says you guys?
