The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf trailer promotes Netflix’s August release

Less than two weeks have gone by since we shared the first teaser trailer for Netflix's animated feature The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, along with a featurette that gave a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie. (If you missed those promotional materials back then, they're also embedded below.) Now a new trailer for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf has already arrived online and can be seen above! The movie will be available to watch on the Netflix streaming service as of August 23rd.

A prequel to Netflix's live-action The Witcher series, Nightmare of the Wolf is coming our way from director Kwang Il Han, The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, and producer Beau DeMayo. The movie focuses on the character

Vesemir, the mentor and a father figure for Geralt of Rivia. The story will explore his early years as a Witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was made by Studio Mir, the Korean animation studio behind The Legend of Korra and Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender. Several months ago, a leaked image seemed to reveal that the movie has a running time of 81 minutes, but that has not been confirmed.

Inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. The show is an

epic tale of fate and family — the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

I was a big fan of the first season of The Witcher, so I'm looking forward to checking out The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Watching it will make the wait for The Witcher season 2, which reaches Netflix on December 17th, a bit easier.
