We caught our first glimpse Alex Garland's directorial debut, EX MACHINA, yesterday in the form of some posters and images. In case you wanted to see a little bit more regarding the 24 year old coder who becomes part of an experiment in which he must interact with the world's first artificial intelligence (which so happens to be housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl), your time has come. Now we have an even better look as the first trailer for EX MACHINA has made it's way to the web and wastes no time to unsettle you.

Aside from the subject matter at hand, I'm also really digging the very limited cast of this piece. For me it's a little reminiscent of films like SUNSHINE or MOON, where the focus is brought to the characters and the drama that goes on between them. It's obvious that both the creator and the AI have an agenda of their own, so I can't wait to see that play out come next April. In regards to the music used in the trailer, is it me or does that rhythmic electronic thumping just make everything tense? I'm going to play that the next time I make a salad.

EX MACHINA, starring Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander, will hit theaters on April 10, 2015.
