According to Variety, Theron has joined the cast of THE ROAD. The flick is based off the book by Cormac McCarthy and centers on a man who embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to transport his son to safety while fending off cannibals.
Cannibals are fun. And how many of you out there have thought about biting Charlize Theron (maybe on her butt? Just throwing that out there.) You know you have. No shame in admitting it.
Unfortunately, Theron isn’t taking on a major role. She’ll be playing the main characters wife and will mostly be seen in flashbacks. Viggo Mortensen will be starring.
John Hillcoat is directing with Joe Penhall behind the script. Apparently Theron joined the project because she’s a big fan of the book and wanted to work with producer Nick Wechsler again. THE ROAD is shaping up to be all kinds of fun, so as always, we’ll keep you updated.
