Here is some CRAZY news to wrap your brain around. News so flippin’ CRAZY, that it likely won’t hit you for a few seconds, then BAM! it will, and you’ll either get all giddy inside, or… you won’t. Either way, this should at least put some pep in your morning.
MovieHole learned that Rowdy Roddy Piper told Empire magazine that John Carpenter is currently in talks with the Sci-Fi Network about getting a little movie he directed back in the 80s called THEY LIVE made into a full fledged series! That’s right folks, THEY LIVE: THE SERIES may just live to see the light of day!
Those around these parts la-la-love THEY LIVE for all of it’s sweet 80s action goodness, the bombastic one liners, and for the longest fight scene ever filmed. And now the prospects of a TV show? Ho-ly crap. I’m still stunned at the notion.
Of course, as it’s just Piper here talkin’, this is just a rumor at this point, but one never knows. I can see a show coming from it, a weekly series about a regular joe battling the aliens that are secretly taking over the planet, sporting one slick pair of sunglasses and a knack for kicking ass and chewing bubble gum. I can dig it, yo. And with Sci-Fi’s THE DEAD ZONE being such a huge hit, it would make sense to look for another 80s gem to turn into a series.
Stick around as we either debunk or confirm this rumor, and if you wanna see if Piper is interested in reprising his role for the TV show, go ahead and click HERE.
