Now here’s a project that sounds interesting. LIVE FREAKY DIE FREAKY! is a stop motion feature recently released on DVD. The promos promise that If Team America didn’t have enough puppet sex and puppet violence for you, this is your movie! Pretty strong statement. Let’s look deeper.
Live Freaky Die Freaky! gleefully pushes the boundaries of good taste as it tells the story of a young man who discovers a copy of Helter Skelter (the definitive book on the Manson killings) in the year 3069 and decides to interpret it as a biblical tome, with Charles Manson as the Messiah. The film flashes back to 1969 and presents a hilariously debauched portrayal of Manson and his followers though the trials and tribulations of teaching the world better living through “music, murder, and mayhem.” It is safe to say that never before has so much sex, violence, and ribald tongue-in-cheek humor appeared in a stop-motion animated production.
The voice cast includes quite a list of rockers and punks, but particularly notable are Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong as Charlie Manson and Asia Argento as Habagail.
I gotta say I’m already a fan of this project for two reasons – one is that it’s going to have some folks hating it sight unseen, so I’ll just prop it the same way. But more importantly I haven’t really had an excuse to post any pictures of Asia Argento of late. Thanks guys!
