They’re coming to get you again in low budget remake of Night of the Living Dead

We all know that George A. Romero’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is public domain, and therefore anyone can do whatever they want with it without having to pay any royalties. The movie has already received a handful of remakes and spin-offs, and they don’t appear to be stopping any time soon.

WTI Productions is prepping their own version of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, a reboot of the 1968 classic bearing the same title. The film is being directed by newcomer Matt Cloude, who co-wrote the script with Wil Smith. Judith O’Dea, who played Barbara in the original, will be featured in the re-imagining, along with a cast of fresh faces including Sarah Snyder (below), Terry Westfall VanLehn, Donnie Sturges and Daniel Taraschke.

The picture is looking to film in October for a 2012 release. I’m curious to see what fans with such passion are capable of producing. At least it seems like they’re doing it for the right reasons and not just cashing in on the recognizable title. Keep up to date with the movie on its Facebook and Twitter.
