Thirst-y for a remake?

We’ve been talking about Park Chan-Wook’s THIRST for a while now. Since the last time we talked about it the flick has opened in Korea, beating out WOLVERINE no less, and it’s made it’s presence known at Cannes. I’m in a very Cannes mood after having watched Season 4 of ENTOURAGE yesterday so let’s talk about some Cannes news!

Yes, that news is of a THIRST remake undoubtedly on the way. Don’t worry just yet… there are no specifics, just speculation. Apparently the rights to remake Park’s THIRST are a hot topic over in France right now. With the success of THIRST, Park’s past success. and the somewhat irritating love Hollywood has for vampires right now… it’s just a matter of time.

While Park’s OLDBOY, SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE, and SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE are all being remade by different groups it seems Universal’s Focus Features have first dibs on the remake rights for THIRST, seeing how Focus Features International and CJ Entertainment co-produced the film.

So there you have it. Nothing solid yet but the announcement is looming. THIRST deals with a priest who is infected by a virus and becomes a vampire.
