Y’all heard of this Thomas McDonell cat? Me neither…
Be that as it may, Tim Burton and Warner Bros. have just cast the PROM and TWELVE actor to play a young version of Barnabas Collins in DARK SHADOWS. As you know, Johnny Depp is set to grown up version of the vampire character.
Not much else you really need to know, as McDonell (seen right) is likely the least known actor in an impressive cast that includes Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green (below), Jackie Earle Haley, Bella Heathcote and a yet to be confirmed Michael Sheen.
As far as his resume is concerned, McDonell also appeared in THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, an episode of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” and has THE SPECTACULAR NOW in pre-production.
Adapted by Seth Grahame-Smith, DARK SHADOWS was a 1960s TV soap that centered on the 175-year-old vampire Barnabas Collins, sealed in his coffin by his father in 1795 and inadvertently unleashed in the present where he must adjust to an entirely new world while passing himself off to relatives in Collinwood, Maine as a cousin from England.
DARK SHADOWS holds an unspecified 2012 release date.
