In my useless opinion, Michael Jackson’s THRILLER music video is the best music video of all time. Straight up, no video before nor since is as awesome, or epic, as THRILLER. From director John Landis, it features sweet werewolf action, and some of the best choreographed dancing zombies ever filmed. Which makes the prospects of the recently announced THRILLER: THE MUSICAL so freaking awesome!
That’s right, according to Variety, producer and theater owner James L. Nederlander, has snatched up the rights to bring THRILLER to the stage, in a musical featuring songs from the full ‘Thriller’ album, as well as select songs from MJ’s ‘Off the Wall’ LP. Holy crap, I just about creamed my shorts!
The guy may be a freak now, but he was on top of his game with the ‘Thriller’ album, so the idea of having a musical of THRILLER with those songs… color me excited! The story of the stage musical will follow the storyline from THRILLER, focusing on a wholesome young couple whose date goes awry when one of them turns into a werewolf.
No doubt they’ll throw the zombies in there with their infamous dance routine, or it simply wouldn’t be a THRILLER musical at all! Beyond the announcement that the rights have been secured, there’s no further information as to the details, but the fact that this sucker is in the works… hell, I wouldn’t mind if the wife dragged me to see this musical! Come to think of it, I’d probably have to drag her…
