Tim Miller is reportedly developing a solo Kitty Pryde movie at Fox

Well, well, well, it's about damn time! Straight up, I've been griping about there being a Kitty Pryde-centric film since Fox bungled the focus of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. By all rights that movie should have featured Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde in the lead as opposed to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the primary role.

But I digress, earlier today, Collider exclusively reported that Tim Miller (DEADPOOL) is currently developing a solo movie with Marvel's Kitty Pryde as its lead. Known to many comic book fans as Shadowcat, Pryde (and the objects she comes into contact with) is able to "phase" through solid matter, disrupt electromagnetic fields, and levitate at will. At the time of her introduction, Kitty was the youngest member to join the X-Men. Throughout the years, Ms. Pryde had become one of the team's most respected members, and eventually established her own mutant academy, Jean Grey's School for Higher Learning Students.

For the moment, there is no other information available about the project, such as who will pen the script or additional producers set to contribute. There's also no indication as to whether or not Ellen Page – who portrayed the character in several past X-Men films – will return to the role. There's also the Disney/Fox deal to consider as well. After all, it's going to be a while before that merger is all wrapped up, and that could potentially keep the Kitty Pryde solo film from phasing into theaters for quite some time. With that being said, it's important to note that just because a film is "in development" does not necessarily mean that it will move into production. However, if the movie manages to get up and running sooner rather than later, Pryde could become the first female X-Men team member to star in her own feature film adventure.

I'll just say this; if the film gets made, and it fails to include Pryde's dragon familiar Lockheed, I will flip all the tables.

What do you think of this news? What iteration of Kitty Pryde would you like to see get a solo venture on the big screen? Would you prefer the "kid sidekick" version, or the more-established "leader type" of Pryde? Let us know in the comments section below.
