Time for another buddy cop action-comedy; Mark Wahlberg to star in Partners

Another year and another Mark Wahlberg buddy cop action-comedy. Deadline reports that Mark Wahlberg has been attached to star in New Line Cinema's PARTNERS as an LAPD detective. PARTNERS will put a "new spin" on the buddy cop genre; instead of being paired up with the standard male counterpart whom Mark Wahlberg will butt heads with until their inevitable mutual respect for each other at the conclusion, Wahlberg will instead be paired with, get ready to be shocked now, a female partner. Crap on a hat, "new spin" indeed.

In PARTNERS, Mark Wahlberg's character will fall for a beautiful woman after a one-night stand, only to discover that she's an FBI agent and his new superior on a high profile case. New Line is said to be using MR AND MRS. SMITH as a template for the film and plan to include lots of big action set pieces. In addition to a director, the studio is still searching for right actress to pair up with Wahlberg. Do you folks have any suggestions?

Mark Wahlberg's next film, DADDY'S HOME, will reunite him with his THE OTHER GUYS co-star Will Ferrell and is set for a December 25, 2015 release.
