Only 2 weeks to go until the new Freddy Kruger retreads the same old ground in the Platinum Dunes remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Besides whether the film will be a shot-for-shot remake, and how the effects of Freddy’s new look will turn out, many are thinking about the film’s score: will the iconic bom-bom-bom-BOM (just go with it) be there, or will composer Steve Jablonsky be doing something different.
I can’t answer all of the burning questions just yet, but I can answer you this: what the soundtrack will look like. And sound like. And sorry to say, but the outlook for the score keeping the NIGHTMARE theme that we all know and love is not good. They do, however, appear to be keeping the “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…”, so at least there’s that to look forward to.
