Toby Kebbell might join Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver in A Monster Calls

Earlier this week we learned Sigourney Weaver has been cast in J.A. Bayona's A MONSTER CALLS, and THR is reporting DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES' Toby Kebbell is in talks to join the project as well.

Based on Patrick Ness' children's fantasy novel, A MONSTER CALLS is about a "young boy who attempts to deal with bullying at the hands of his classmates, and his mother's terminal illness, by escaping into a fantastical world through the guidance of a tree monster."

According to THR, if Kebbell does sign on for A MONSTER CALLS, he'll be playing the boy's father, and Felicity Jones will play his mother. Sigourney Weaver will star as his grandmother and Liam Neeson will provide the voice for Groot the tree monster.

I haven't read Patrick Ness' novel, but I love the artwork I've seen from it, and his book has won a ton of awards, including Carnegie and Greenaway Medals. A MONSTER CALLS has an interesting premise with an excellent cast and director, so I have very high hopes for the upcoming film.

A MONSTER CALLS is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2016.
