Todd McFarlane teases possible Spawn vs Venom flick!

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but SPAWN creator Todd McFarlane also had a hand in creating Marvel's ultimate foul to Spider-Man, VENOM. To be specific, the character was created by David Michelinie and McFarlane was the artist for his first-ever appearance. Cool, huh? The More you know, right? Well, considering that McFarlane (basically) created both SPAWN and VENOM, is there a chance that we will ever get to see the two epic anti-heroes battle it out on the big screen? McFarlane hopes so, as he was just talking to CBR about just that.

Todd McFarlane:

Here’s a big "What If". What if Sony distributes Spawn? Then is it possible that in the future Sony could have a crossover with Venom and Spawn? It’s possible. So, I will be presenting that possibility to the Sony executives when we get ready.

We just heard a few weeks back that Jamie Foxx will be playing SPAWN in the new Blumhouse adaptation written and directed by McFarlane. Hopefully, his star-power will be enough for Sony to pony up the cash to distribute SPAWN – thus bringing us the possible crossover of our dreams!

Fingers crossed and we will keep you guys up-to-date on whether or not this becomes a reality as we hear more. Until then, remembered that VENOM is set to be released on October 5th. Scripted by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, and Kelly Marcel, VENOM still doesn't have an official synopsis, but Fleischer has said that it drew inspiration from two different comic book storylines.

One of those storylines is Lethal Protector, in which Venom fights

five new offspring of the Venom Symbiote: Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.

The other is Planet of the Symbiotes, in which

Earth is invaded by an army of symbiotes.

Hardy plays Eddie Brock, the journalist who gets coated in the Venom symbiote. His co-stars include Michelle Williams as Eddie's wife Annie Weying, Riz Ahmed as the symbiote-studying Dr. Carlton Drake, Jenny Slate as a scientist, Woody Harrelson as "a henchman of sorts", and Reid Scott as a mystery character.

Again, we'll let you know when we more so stay tuned!
