Tokyo Gore poster!

Nowadays it seems like we’re getting a lot of horror coming out of France, with guys like Alex Aja, Xavier Gens, and Julien Maury & Alexandre Bustillo shocking us with their decidedly uncouth bloodbaths and histrionics.

But Japan, for a few years there, had been the “it” country for horror, bringing us those J-Horror flicks we’re so sick of now (but they WERE a pleasant surprise at first, don’t forget) as well as the frequently gruesome contributions of madmen like Takashi Miike. But they’ve fallen off the radar a bit recently, and it seems like they’re now determined not to let these haughty Parisians steal their thunder anymore. First we got word of the insanity that is MACHINE GIRL, and now we have a freakout called TOKYO GORE POLICE. The teaser poster just debuted over at Kaiju Shakedown – and while it’s nothing too special – the movie it’s promoting certainly appears to be. Don’t believe me? Brother, take a look at the trailer below and have your ass whipped silly. Looks like a Troma movie as directed by Miike, with David Lynch as a consultant. Yeah, that badass.

Here’s the synopsis, although it hardly matters: Ruka [is] a police officer in a special squad formed to eradicate human mutations that have recently sprung into existence, the result of a virus created by a mad scientist simply known as Key Man. Killing these unwieldy mutants is no easy task, and Ruka, naturally enough, carries a samurai sword with her at all times. Despite being on opposite sides of the fence, Ruka and Key Man share a common bond: the murder of their fathers years earlier at the hands of the police, and both she and Key Man seek revenge for their dads’ untimely demise.

(P.S. The trailer’s as not work-safe as you can get, unless you work at a special effects shop, or are a professional murderer. Then, by all means…)
