Tom Hiddleston calls Kong: Skull Island a spectacular and epic film

One of the greatest and biggest characters in the history of cinema is due for a return, and next year audiences will once again know the name King Kong. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (THE KINGS OF SUMMER) just wrapped production on KONG: SKULL ISLAND, the upcoming reboot of the King Kong saga which will also serve as the second installment in Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. shared Godzilla/King Kong universe. Tom Hiddleston stars in the film and spoke of how excited he is to be sharing a screen with "the biggest movie star in the history of movies" while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed it, had this extraordinary idea, I don’t want to spoil too much because I kind of want people to see the trailer and go "oh, okay"…but it’s a whole new re-conception of the mythology. It essentially follows a group of disparate travelers and explorers and soldiers who travel to an undiscovered island in the South Pacific. And it’s set in a time period where you could conceive that there are still undiscovered places on the earth. What they find on the island is surprising, and then every character has a very different response to it. It’s going to be spectacular and epic, but also the human drama is kind of interesting as well.

Despite my love for the eighth wonder of the world, I wasn't overly interested in KONG: SKULL ISLAND in the beginning, but then the cast began to roll in and I couldn't help but get a little excited; Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Toby Kebbell, Corey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell, there's definitely a lot to get excited about there. As I mentioned above, KONG: SKULL ISLAND will become a part of Legendary/Warner's Godzilla/King Kong shared universe which will culminate in GODZILLA VS. KING KONG in 2020.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND is set for a March 10, 2017 release.
