In case you were worried that Tom Holland’s tenure as Spider-Man would end after Spider-Man: No Way Home you can breathe a sigh of relief. That is if producer Amy Pascal is to be believed. According to Pascal, Holland isn’t going anywhere and will be involved in a new Spider-Man trilogy after No Way Home.

While speaking to Fandango, Pascal wanted to make fans rest easy about Holland’s future as the web-slinger. Here is what Pascal had to say about the new Spider-Man trilogy and Sony’s continued partnership with Marvel moving forward:

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel — [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next ‘Spider-Man’ movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies…Yes, Marvel and Sony are going to keep going together as partners.”

There has been some doubt about Holland’s future because Spider-Man: No Way Home is the last film he’s contracted to do as the character. Those doubts grew a bit more after the release of a recent “GQ” interview with the actor when he said, “Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.” Granted, Holland has also previously said he’d like to play the character as long as possible so this could just be the case of the actor being a little burnt out when he did the interview with “GQ.” His relationship with Amy Pascal seems pretty tight so I’m sure a new deal is being worked on behind the scenes.

Sony and Marvel have certainly come a long way when it comes to sharing the Spider-Man property. Holland’s iteration of the character almost got booted from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019 after Disney and Sony struggled to come to terms on a new agreement to share the character. Thankfully mom and dad made up and we’re here today getting ready for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home next month and it should prove to be the biggest film of the year if the early hype is to be believed. In regards to Sony and Marvel’s future agreement Pascal had this to say:

“Spider-Man is always very special and different from everything else, but I think the beautiful thing is you had two big corporations that decided to work together for the good of the story and the character, and I don’t think that’s always the spirit that you see. Yeah, working together and helping each other make things be better is a good model.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home brings back Tom Holland as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and he will be joined by Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and J.B. Smoove. The third film will once again be directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Oh, and then there are those unconfirmed but likely to be true rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are returning as their respective versions of Spider-Man.

What do YOU hope to see from Tom Holland in a new Spider-Man trilogy? Spider-Man: No Way Home hits screens on December 17, 2021.
