One of my favorite monster movies has to be 1997’s THE RELIC, with Tom Sizemore and Penelope Ann Miller, from director Peter Hyams. I’m not sure why it’s so high on my list, there’s just something fun about the film, revolving around a giant monster loose in the Museum of Natural History, that really yanks my crank. And now, thanks to Lionsgate Home Entertainment, we’ll be able to check this puppy out in super high definition!
On April 6, 2010, THE RELIC will be hitting Blu-ray, with all new cover art to go along with it (check it out below in all of it’s teeth-chomping glory). Sure, the cover could have been a lot cooler than this… but it also could have been a lot worse. Floating heads worse. So big teeth, while boring… I’ll take it!
Though not all is shits and giggles with the new release, as the only (and I mean only) special feature is the trailer. That’s it. No making of, no retrospective look-back with the stars, no nothing. The trailer. On the flip side, what more do you really need other than THE RELIC in 1080p? Exactly. Not much.
