Toxic Avenger remake director comes from a Hot Tub Time Machine

Well folks, Melvin Junko really is coming back at us in remake form; seemed so hard to believe, even when we got the word straight from Lloyd Kaufman’s mouth back in March, but today it’s officially official, as Original Media – the company financing the development of the project – has hired HOT TUB TIME MACHINE director Steve Pink to helm the new version of what it’s calling “an environmentally-conscious action-comedy.”

Pink, who also co-wrote HIGH FIDELITY and GROSSE POINT BLANK, said, “The Toxic Avenger is exactly what the country–wait, that’s not big enough–what the world needs right now.”

I wonder if he’s right about that… Anyway, Pink will co-write THE TOXIC AVENGER with Daniel C. Mitchell; Akiva Goldsman, Richard Saperstein and Charlie Corwin are all on board as producers, as are Kaufman and his Troma partner Michael Herz.

I suppose if nothing else, the casting for this should be interesting… Maybe Pink will hire his nerdy HOT TUB TIME MACHINE star Clark Duke?
