Trailer: Danny Glover finds horror on Buckout Road

Among Matthew Currie Holmes' 40 acting credits are several horror projects, including THE FOG remake and WRONG TURN 2. A fan of genre, Holmes has now decided to make his feature directorial debut with a "loving throwback to late-'80s midnight movies", BUCKOUT ROAD.

A supernatural thriller, BUCKOUT ROAD deals with a location that has so many different urban legends associated with it that it allowed Holmes to film all sorts of horrors for his movie, "from witches burning at the stake, to backwoods albino killers, to a modern, unstoppable stalker."

Buckout Road might be known as the most haunted road in New York State, but nobody really believed it… until now.  A college class project on modern mythology turns deadly when a trio of students discovers a series of horrific urban legends surrounding Buckout Road may actually be true. The deeper they dig into the road’s dark, mysterious history, the more dangerous their quest becomes.

Judging by the trailer, which can be seen below, Holmes captured some great imagery of his film's variety of horrors. The most impressive is the lantern-carrying monster, but my favorite is the blade-wielding slasher.

Holmes also assembled a solid cast: BUCKOUT ROAD stars Evan Ross, Henry Czerny, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Danny Glover, and Colm Feore.

Produced by John Gillespie and Brad Clark, BUCKOUT ROAD is currently making the festival rounds and receiving awards and nominations. The film won "Best Thriller Feature Film" at the Hot Springs Horror Film Festival and is up for several awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, at the World Music and Independent Film Festival. The next screenings of BUCKOUT ROAD will be held at the International Black Film Festival in Nashville, Tennessee on October 7th and at Commffest 2017 in Toronto, Ontario on October 13th.
