Trailer for Doctor Strange is a mind-blowing trip

They're not typically the sort of movies we cover here on Arrow in the Head, but I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I have always been a Marvel Comics reader, and my lifelong enjoyment of those comic books has extended into a strong appeciation for the films based on them. My hype levels are high for the May 6th release of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and the MCU entries that will follow, the next of which is DOCTOR STRANGE, set to come out on November 4th. A film which veers a little closer to the Arrow in the Head style.

Directed by Scott Derrickson (DELIVER US FROM EVIL) from a screenplay by his SINISTER co-writer C. Robert Cargill and PROMETHEUS scribe Jon Spaihts, DOCTOR STRANGE tells the story of Stephen Strange,

an acclaimed neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near-fatal car accident, showing audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays the title character. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scott Adkins, Amy Landecker, and Mads Mikkelsen co-star.

While in production on DOCTOR STRANGE, Derrickson and producer/Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that the film would have some extreme, mind-bending visuals harkening back to the psychedelic 1960s craziness of the early comics in which Doctor Strange appeared, and an insane, impressive visual style is certainly present in the trailer that has just been released. DOCTOR STRANGE looks to be quite different from its MCU brethren and this is one cinematic trip I can't wait to take.
