Last week we caught an early look at the trailer for MANIAC director Franck Khalfoun’s AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING with a handful of leaked stills. We now have the full trailer for the latest chapter in the franchise that stars Jennifer Jason Leigh as a single mother who moves her three children into the haunted house not knowing of the house's bloody history. Smooth move!
In the trailer we see a lot of what Khalfoun has in store with his take on the iconic haunted house, and although the trailer didn't really do it for me, I do like the fact that they actually tried to bring something new to the franchise. I'm eager to see what Khalfoun does with this one as I really dug his MANIAC remake; the guy certainly knows how to bring the scares and he's not afraid to deliver plenty of the red stuff, so this could be just the thing that the franchise needs. The film is due to hit theaters on January 2, 2015. Bella Thorne, McKenna Grace, Cameron Monaghan, Taylor Spreitler, Thomas Mann and Jennifer Morrison also star.
