Last year, Andi Matichak starred in the latest HALLOWEEN sequel. Later this month, she'll be seen in the Gravitas Ventures release ASSIMILATE – and judging by the trailer, this film is going to feel very much like an update of another classic horror property, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS.
Directed by John Murlowski from a screenplay he wrote with Steven Peterson, ASSIMILATE also stars Joel Courtney, Calum Worthy, Katherine McNamara, and Cam Gigandet. The synopsis:
Best friends Zach (Joel Courtney, THE KISSING BOOTH), Randy (Calum Worthy), and Kayla (Andi Matichak, HALLOWEEN) discover that their neighbors are being killed and replaced by perfect copies of their victims. Their only chance to survive is to covertly record the invasion in a desperate attempt to warn the world.
The cause of these doppelgängers is different than what we've seen in the BODY SNATCHERS movies, there are insect-like creatures involved in the double-making process instead of pods, but the result is pretty similar. These things even screech to alert their pals that there are pesky humans around.
ASSIMILATE will be receiving a theatrical, VOD, and Digital HD release on May 24th.
