Dementer Chad Crawford Kinkle

Last month, we shared the news that JUG FACE director Chad Crawford Kinkle's second film DEMENTER will be making its world premiere at the Nashville Film Festival. With that premiere set to happen this week, a trailer has now arrived online to give a preview of what DEMENTER has in store for its viewers.

Kinkle built this project around his sister Stephanie Kinkle, who has Down Syndrome and plays one of the film's lead characters. A press release assures that the writer/director has gone to great lengths to make a film that "embraces and properly represents the developmentally disabled, while still being both thrilling and disturbing."

JUG FACE cast member Katie Groshong stars in DEMENTER as

Katie, a young woman determined to do something positive with her life after fleeing from a backwoods cult, takes a job at a center for special needs adults. Desperately attempting to live a normal life, she is overwhelmed by signs that “the devils” are after Stephanie (Stephanie Kinkle), a woman with Down Syndrome that she now cares for.

Using writings from a strange notebook, Katie creates rituals to ward away the evil while taking care of Stephanie at the center and in her home. But nothing seems to work, and Stephanie is becoming sicker with each passing day…

Groshong and Kinkle are joined in the cast by Brandy Edmiston, Eller Hall, and Larry Fessenden.

The trailer embedded below doesn't give much away at all, but it does give the impression that DEMENTER has a very dark and unsettling tone.

DEMENTER will be having its world premiere at the Nashville Film Festival on Thursday, October 10th.
