Transcendence screenwriter Jack Paglen to pen sequel to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

Well, it looks like the Engineer Gods have heard the prayers for a sequel to Ridley Scott‘s 2012 PROMETHEUS. Screenwriter Jack Paglen, who recently penned the Wally Pfister helmed TRANSCENDENCE with Johnny Depp, is now gearing up to pen a sequel to the ambiguous sci-fi pic, which serves as a psuedo-prequel to the ALIEN franchise. The first film’s script was originally penned by Jon Spaits with a massive rewrite by Damon Lindelof, which leaned more on the Engineers of the film, rather than the xenomorph’s that evolve out of it.

No word on how Paglen will approach the sequel, but director Ridley Scott has said that he’d like to continue the journey of Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and damaged android David (Michael Fassbender) as they chase after the homeworld of the Engineers in an attempt to find the truth about human existence. I’ve made my case for the sequel already, as I really enjoyed the first one, warts and all (and let’s face it, there are some pretty big ass warts), but I’m sure some will groan and seethe over the news that this is progressing forward.

So let’s hear it: Is this good or bad news?
