Troll remake casting

Some good news for all you diehard TROLL fans out there (and notice I didn’t say TROLL 2). I’m talking about the original 1986 campy romp about a wicked troll king who invades a San Francisco apartment complex in search of a mystical ring. It looks like the remake (which we last told you about here) is moving forward nicely.

Writer/director, John Carl Buechler (who helmed the ’86 version) has begun his hunt for the new Harry Potter Jr (and NO it has nothing to do with that famous boy wizard). Believe it or not, the character name, Harry Potter, was NOT originated by author, J.K. Rowling. Anyways, the manner of Buechler’s search differs slightly from the usual casting call. Get this—he’s actually set up a website at troll.sharenow.com where he hopes to find a boy and a girl between the ages of 11 and 14 to portray both Harry and his sister, Wendy Anne. You’ll even find a disclaimer claiming no intentional similarities to the boy wizard.

The TROLL remake is reportedly budgeted at up around $20 million (Damn!). Here’s the new synopsis: A young boy befriends a good witch and is introduced to an alternate world of magic, witches, and wizards where he must fight an evil Troll Wizard who has the ability to hide his essence within others. Yikes! I guess now I can see a reason for the disclaimer. But I think it would be funny if the new flick included a comedic reference to that four-eyed wunderkind from Hogwarts. No word yet on a set release date.
