Almost exactly one year ago TRON: LEGACY director Joseph Kosinski made public his plans to adapt Radical Publishing’s sci-fi graphic novel OBLIVION into a film. You guys remember that? At the time the great David Fincher was attached to produce. Well that was last year and this is this year… So what happened?
Who knows but it seems Kosinski is once again trying to get some interest in the project started, though it’s unknown if Fincher is still attached. According to the folks over at Deadline Mr. Kosinski is once again pitching his idea for an OBLIVION movie, with plans to direct the feature himself. Right now Kosinski is giving the upper-edge to Disney though if the Mouse House doesn’t snatch this one up it’s expected someone will very soon. Coming from Kosinski and Arvid Nelson, the comic’s premise reads:
The story centers on a battle-damaged soldier who, assigned to a desolate planet after a court-martial, patrols the bleak landscape in an effort to destroy the last vestiges of a primitive alien race. When a mysterious traveler arrives unexpectedly, their lives become inextricably linked as they are forced to question everything they know about this world and themselves.
