True Lies reboot series starring Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga ordered at CBS

The True Lies reboot series is finally happening at CBS. Based on James Cameron’s 1994 feature, True Lies revolves around a disenchanted suburban housewife who is shocked to discover that her bland computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy. The couple is then propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.

Steve Howey (Shameless) and Ginger Gonzaga (I’m Dying Up Here, Marvel’s She-Hulk) step into the roles famously played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Erica Hernandez, Omar Miller, Mike O’Gorman, Annabella Didion, and Lucas Jaye also star in the upcoming series.

Matt Nix (Burn NoticeTurner & Hooch) will write the pilot and serve as showrunner for the series. Anthony Hemingway, who directed the pilot, exec produced alongside Cameron and his Lightstorm Entertainment partner Rae Sanchini. McG and his Wonderland Sound and Vision collaborators Mary Viola and Corey Marsh executive produce with Nix and his Flying Glass of Milk Productions’ Josh Levy. Sean Hoagland and Whitney Davis are co-exec producers.

CBS originally ordered the True Lies reboot pilot in 2021, intending to launch the series this past broadcast season. However, after looking at what they had, they pushed the series to give producers the chance to make some changes. I understand this move, as CBS will assuredly want its True Lies reboot to hook viewers from the jump.

Are you excited to hear that the long-gestating True Lies reboot series is finally happening? Do you think it will hold a candle to Cameron’s original film? Let us know in the comments section below.
