It sort of feels like we're watching American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy put together the next season of the show one interview at a time. During an appearance on Bravo's What What Happens Live, he revealed that the seventh season of the horror anthology show will "be about the election that we just went through." Murphy provided more details on his idea while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, saying that the season will "express all sides of that equation" and he wants to focus on "people who don't have a voice in our culture." While accepting an award at the Publicist Guild Awards Luncheon, he said "You will not see Trump and Clinton as characters on the show."

The presidential candidates may not be characters on the show, but Murphy has now confirmed to E! News that they will be portrayed on the show in some way.

I think people literally think Sarah Paulson is playing Hillary Clinton and I wanted to clarify that that is not true. Horror Story is always about allegory, so the election is allegory. It's our jumping off point. It is about the election we just went through and what happened on that night and the fallout of that night, which to many people, from all sides of the camps is a horror story. And you know, that show is always so fun when it's about the zeitgeist and what we're doing now."

The actors who will be portraying Trump and Clinton have not yet been chosen, because Murphy and the writers are only halfway through the writing process.

But it's really, really fun. It starts on election night is all I'll say… It's very scary, that night, for many people. It's fun, you will like it. It's really a season that will have a lot of people interested and I think there's something for everybody in that season."

American Horror Story season seven begins filming in June and will likely start airing on FX sometime in September or October. So far the only actors we know will definitely be in the cast are Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson.
