Tucker is Ruined!

The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Jonathan Tucker, who we last saw gutted like a fish in the TCM remake, has just signed with Dreamworks to star in THE RUINS, based on the best-selling book that I’ve never heard of by Scott B. Smith.

Produced by Ben Stiller, Stuart Cornfeld, and Chris Bender, THE RUINS is about a group of friends whose leisurely Mexican holiday takes a turn for the worse when Jeff (Tucker) persuades them to accompany a fellow tourist on a remote archaeological dig in the jungle, where something evil lives among the ruins.

At first I thought it was going to be another TURISTAS, until it got to the archaeological dig part, then the thought of THE MUMMY came to mind. So what’s it gonna be? TURISTAS or THE MUMMY? Probably a little bit of both, which is cool… I guess.

Filming begings next month in Australia, from a screenplay written by Smith himself, so you know at least it’ll be true to the source material. Stick around as we find out who the other fun-loving group of friends on vacation will be, as I have a feeling we’ll be hearing more from THE RUINS in the next couple of weeks.
