One of the cooler looking films to be hitting the Tribeca Film Festival this year is the monster movie UNEARTHED, from writer/director Matthew Leutwyler. After hitting up it’s OFFICIAL SITE, I think I figured out why it looks so awesome: cool lighting, scary images… and yes. Monsters.
Today the boy’s at Bloody-Disgusting scored the first-look at the poster for the flick, and while I think it’s pretty good looking overall, the first thought that came to my mind was THE DESCENT. It probably has to do with the same warm-glow here, or the cast featured that looks to be primarily female, or even the fact that they’re looking down into a cave… either way, it screams THE DESCENT, and whether that’s a good or bad thing, I haven’t decided yet.
Of course only the top part gave me this DESCENT thought, as the rest looks like something all of it’s own. UNEARTHED, starring Emmanuelle Vaugier (as seen in SAW II), goes like this: When an archaeologist obsessed with the mysterious disappearance of an ancient Native American people uncovers a subterranean lair in the New Mexico desert, a blood-thirsty creature is unleashed on a small town. In the wake of the carnage, the people’s only hope is a quick-thinking rogue sheriff and the ritual medicine of the lost tribe.
Nice! Makes me wish I was hitting up Tribeca this year just for that! To check out the poster in it’s entirety, go ahead and click HERE, and for more shits and giggles, hit up the official site HERE, as you’ll likely have a yabba-dabba-do time with all the sweet images from the film. Stick around more on UNEARTHED (like the flippin’ trailer already!) as we hear it.
