Unique Forbidden Planet

J. Michael Straczynski (CHANGELING) was tapped a little while ago to write a new movie based on the 1956 sci-fi classic FORBIDDEN PLANET, and today he has spoken a little about his vision for it. In the original, an expedition from Earth to one of its planetary colonies finds only two people left alive and a deadly secret. Straczynski said:

“I told [producer] Joel [Silver] this is how you do ‘Forbidden Planet’ without pissing on the original that no one has ever thought of… When I told [the idea] to him, his eyes lit up. It’s not a remake. It’s not a reimagining. It’s not exactly a prequel. You’ll have to see it. It’s something that no one has thought of when it comes to this storyline.”

I’ve written Straczynski’s name like four times so far in this article and I’ve had to check the spelling every single time. Olga Kurylenko? Petra Nemcova? Yvonne Strahovski? I can wrote those no problem. If anyone can help me figure out why that is I’d love to know. It’s so strange. I think this would make a thoroughly thought-provoking psychology thesis, because look guys, I’m baffled.
