Universal Studios Hollywood to open their Walking Dead attraction mid-summer

Universal Studios Hollywood's The Walking Dead Attraction is an expansion from their perenially popular zombie mazes on Halloween Horror Nights.

Bringing zombies to the park 24/7 in a new area right next to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (watch out, kids!), the attraction "remains a walk-through experience but has been revised and re-envisioned as an enhanced maze with recognizable props and locations from the show." It will feature both actors in make-up and animatronics, designed by Walking Dead poster boy Greg Nicotero with KNB.

Now we have an official opening day for the zombie attraction: July 4th, just in time for our annual invasion by aliens.

Says Nicotero:

For me, something that’s very exciting is being able to make the attraction as 100 percent authentic as possible. We’re getting a chance to do animatronic characters that we’ve never done before. We’re getting a chance to utilize molds that were created specifically for the show, and translate them into parts of the attraction. It’s one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art. I can’t wait.
