Update: Lucasfilm clarifies news about Lando spinoff movie

UPDATE: Well, that didn't take long.

After publishing the story Premiere put out a correction saying there was a "misunderstanding" between the journalist and Kennedy. Lucasfilm said that though they would like to make a Lando movie one day there isn’t one in active development.

Original story:

While watching the trailers and promos for SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY there has always been one thought on everyone’s minds: When the hell is Lucasfilm going to do a solo movie with Lando Calrissian? Everyone is loving Donald Glover in the part, and people seem to be more interested in him than the title character. Apparently, Lucasfilm has heard us loud and clear, and president Kathleen Kennedy said his own movie is on the way. Capes for everyone!

Kennedy was speaking with French publication Premiere while showing the movie at Cannes, and she said that though there are more stories to tell with Han (Alden Ehrenreich) and Chewbacca, Lando will be the next character to get his own movie.

We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.

Fans have been swooning over Glover’s Lando since he was shown in the first footage, and the cries to give him his own movie have been made loud and clear on social media. Reactions and reviews of the movie have praised Glover’s performance, saying that he steals the show from an already great cast. I mean, how can he not? Just look at that way he wears that mustache and cape!

Even though the reviews for SOLO haven’t been as great as the ones for the last few Star Wars movies there is no doubt it will make a killing at the box office. Lando will likely come out as an audience favorite, and Lucasfilm would be stupid to not give him his own movie. In that respect, I really hope Kennedy means what she said, and isn't just trying to stir up fan fervor. Lando is the smoothest guy in the galaxy, and surely his adventures would make an equally stylish movie.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY arrives May 25.
