Updated: Marvel & Netflix’s The Defenders assemble in new images!

You guys! Seriously, you guys! It’s finally happening! After 68 episodes, which have amounted to several seasons of quality comic book entertainment, Marvel and Netflix’s THE DEFENDERS have joined forces! Hold up, wait a minute, stop! I need to run a few laps in my office before we continue …

Okay, here’s the score. Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist) are in the process of filming what’s sure to be one of this Summer’s biggest comic-to-film-related events, the 8-episode-series entitled Marvel’s THE DEFENDERS. Available exclusively on Netflix, the show will feature these four heroes going toe-to-toe against a villainous Sigourney Weaver for what is supposed to be a gritty and grounded adventure.

Today, we have out first look at THE DEFENDERS courtesy of a bold and bright Entertainment Weekly Magazine cover, which is expected to hit stands this coming Friday.

We’ve got a seriously colorful batch of photos for you to drool over as well!

It's a shame that we haven't received so much as a glance at Sigourney Weaver's villain character, though I'm fairly certain that, given the grounded nature of the series, she will look similar to her Director character from CABIN IN THE WOODS.

I don’t know about you, but just like the other Marvel/Netflix shows, I’ll be binge-watching the hell out of this the moment it hits. Having really enjoyed the cinematic assemblage of some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, I can only image what manner of quality the elongated, episodic delivery of the Netflix platform will bring to the table for this show.

MARVEL’S THE DEFENDERS will hit the entertainment streaming service in the Summer of 2017.
