Well folks today I’ve got a nice hefty TV show update for all of you. Actually it’s an update on several television shows spanning ABC and NBC. The other day we learned that Fox was choosing not to go with “Locke & Key” and now here we are with more news on what will and won’t be hitting the small screen.
Instead of rambling on about this show and that show I’ll just break it down for you all by what the television networks are staying with, and what they’re dropping. I’ve gone ahead and broke down some of the more familiar genre projects. Check it:
IN
-“Once Upon A Time” (ABC): “Once Upon a Time”, which has “Lost” co-creator/exec producer Damon Lindelof involved, is about a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of fairy tales just may be real.
–“The River” (ABC): “THE RIVER” centers on Tess, a world traveler and top-notch producer who, six months after her TV explorer husband Emmet Cole goes missing in the Amazon, receives a signal from his beacon. Convinced that Emmet is alive, Tess forces her reluctant son Lincoln to abandon his medical studies and lead a rescue expedition.
–“Grimm” (NBC): “Grimm” centers on Nick Burckhardt, a good-looking detective who starts to see humans as beast/animals and discovered that he has a legacy – to protect “humans” from these beasts.
-ABC: “Apt. 23” – “Last Man Standing” – “Good Christian Belles” – “Charlie’s Angels” – “Pan Am” – “Revenge” – “Scandal” – “Man Up” – “Suburgatory” – “Work It”
-NBC: “The Playboy Club” – “Awake” – “Whitney” – “Up All Night” – “Smash” – “Prime Suspect”
OUT
-“V” (ABC): An extraterrestrial race arrives on Earth with seemingly good intentions, only to slowly reveal their true machinations the more ingrained into society they become.
–“Poe” (ABC): The crime procedural centers on the world’s first detective, Edgar Allan Poe, who uses unconventional means to uncover mysteries. The series is set in Boston during the 1840s.
-“Hallelujah” (ABC): Hallelujah is set in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil and whose fortunes change when a stranger comes to town, bringing justice, peace and possibly restoring faith.
–“17th Precinct” (NBC): “17th Precinct” revolves around the fictional town of Excelsior, where magic and supernatural elements rule over science.
-NBC: “Wonder Woman” – “A Man’s World” – “Reconstruction” – “Metro” – “Brave New World” – “Lovelives” – “Help Wanted” – “My Life as an Experiment” – “Parenthood” – “Harry’s Law”
-ABC: “Other People’s Kids”
So there you have it folks! Lots of surprises there I bet, though nothing particularly stirring anything inside of me. I suppose I’m a little bummed “Poe” didn’t get the go ahead but it’s nice to see “Grimm” and “The River” moving forward. As always we’ll be on the lookout for news on any and all genre projects, both coming and going, so keep checking back for more as we hear it!
