U.S. distribution rights acquired for Emma Roberts thriller February

Written and directed by Osgood Perkins, son of PSYCHO's Anthony Perkins, the horror/thriller FEBRUARY made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th, and in the build-up to that screening the film was promoted online with the release of a trailer and a clip.

Judging from those videos, it appears that Perkins has something very dark and intense in store for us, and thankfully it may not be much longer before viewers in the U.S. get a chance to find out if the oppressive atmosphere the previews have is sustained throughout the film's running time. FEBRUARY seems to have been well received at TIFF, so well that it has scored U.S. distribution, with A24 and DirecTV picking up the rights.

Release details haven't been announced yet, but we'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Starring Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton, James Remar, and Lauren Holly, the film has the following synopsis:

Kat (Kiernan Shipka, Mad Men) and Rose (Lucy Boynton) are in different grades at a prestigious prep school for girls, where they are stranded after their parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break. Meanwhile, a haunted young woman, Joan (Emma Roberts), makes a bloody pilgrimage across a frozen landscape toward the school. As Joan gets closer, Kat is plagued by increasingly terrifying visions, and Rose can only look on in horror as her younger schoolmate becomes possessed by an unseen evil force.

Unbroken Pictures partners Adrienne Biddle and Bryan Bertino (director of THE STRANGERS) produced FEBRUARY with Rob Paris' Paris Film Inc., Rob Menzies of Zed Filmworks, and Alphonse Ghossein of Go Insane Films.
