Uwe Boll on a Rampage

Uwe Boll is offering another glimpse into his tormented, “nobody loves me” psyche with RAMPAGE, which looks to be an awfully bitter piece of wish fulfillment fantasy. It’s simply about a guy who builds himself a suit of body armor, loads up on guns, and ventures out into the unsuspecting streets murdering everybody in his path. Projecting much, Uwe?

The trailer itself is okay, even a little creepy, but I can’t say that I’m interested in this kind of film – especially from Boll. When his movies aren’t just cheesy, over-the-top goofiness, they can be rather ugly and mean. See SEED, for example (or better yet, don’t). Like with that misfire, this seems to be Boll in his “okay f*ckers, you think I make the silly movie? Watch THIS and tell me it is a silly movie!” mode. Unless it turns out to be genuinely good and not just violence for the sake of nasty violence, it won’t impress me.

The lead character is played by Brendan Fletcher, who worked with Boll on BLOODRAYNE II, HEART OF AMERICA, and ALONE IN THE DARK… And like every other Uwe Boll movie in existence, Michael Paré is involved.

RAMPAGE will premiere during Fantastic Fest, which runs from September 24 – October 1 in Austin, Texas.
