Vacancy 2 title

When I heard that a sequel for VACANCY was in the works, I was on the fence. Sure, I thought the film was decent enough, but worthy of a sequel? Not really. Then it came out that it was going to be sraight to DVD and I acutally got a glimmer of hope: this thing might be entertaining (and trashy) enough to be fun!

With no big names returning, the only person involved with the sequel as was involved with the original is the writer, Mark Smith. If you’re gonna retain anyone from the original, keeping the writer is probably the most important–score!

Over at VideoETA it appears that the film now has a new title. Ready for it? VACANCY 2: THE FIRST CUT! Word is the film’s actually a prequel, so THE FIRST CUT in the title likely has to do with this telling the story of the first snuff film to go down in that f*cking twisted little hotel. Considering how things left off at the end of VACANCY, going prequel style was the way to go.

It looks like the film has also scored an official R rating for strong violence and terror, language and some sexual content. Nice! Since it’s STD, it’ll also likely be having an Unrated version of the film as well.

Stick around for more on THE FIRST CUT, starring Agnes Bruckner (pictured), Trevor Wright, Brian Klugman, Gwendoline Yeo, David Moscow, Nelson Lee, Lola Davidson, Arjay Smith, and Beau Billingslea, and get ready for it to hit DVD January 20th, 2009.
