Back in December we served up the news that Mark Waters, of MEAN GIRLS fame, was in line to direct VAMPIRE ACADEMY, a supernatural thriller about a bunch of vampire hotties who learn to hone their vampire skills in a vampire academy. Could be lame, but we’re running with it now. especially with the good word that two cuties have been enlisted to star in the film, which is now being called BLOOD SISTERS.

As per Variety, Zoey Deutch (from the upcoming BEAUTIFUL CREATURES; pictured below) and Lucy Fry (the Aussie TV series “Lightning Point”; pictured right) will star as Rose and Lissa, respectively. In addition, Russian actor Danila Kozlovski will play Dimitri.

Based on the book series by Richelle Mead, the first VAMPIRE ACADEMY goes like this:

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger.

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
