Poor Eddie Brock. It was announced earlier this month that the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage would be pushed back to October 15th, and a new report states that Sony Pictures may actually push the Venom sequel all the way back into the new year.

According to Vulture, who cited “multiple inside sources,” Sony is planning on pushing Venom: Let There Be Carnage to January 21, 2022. The official announcement will reportedly happen after CinemaCon concludes as Sony doesn’t “want to flash to exhibitors that they’re scared of the early fall.” That date would find Venom: Let There Be Carnage released just a week before Morbius, another Sony film that has also experienced frequent delays. If the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage is indeed pushed back, I would imagine that Morbius might shift once again as well. For those keeping track, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was originally slated to be released on October 2, 2022, before it was first pushed back to June 25, 2021. The film was then delayed to September 17, 2021, and again to September 24, 2021, before landing on October 15, 2021.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage finds Andy Serkis taking over from Ruben Fleischer in the director’s chair, and features Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams reprising their roles of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying, respectively, with Woody Harrelson also starring as Cletus Kasady, the man who will become Carnage. Venom: Let There Be Carnage also stars Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek, a love interest of Kasady’s described by Serkis as a damaged soul who has been living in isolation.
