Warning: A very NSFW clip awaits your below.
In a genius bit of viral marketing, Magnolia pictures sent out the latest promotional clip from V/H/S on a blood-spattered VHS tape. Rather than go through the trouble of ripping the damn thing onto a computer, the tape was essentially designed to be bootlegged off of a television set ala the film’s premise (see below).
The clip, from a segment directed by THE SIGNAL’S David Bruckner, is lent a much more visceral feel from the bootleg effect. It also helps that the scene is very disturbing, involving some sort of vampiress (played by Hannah Fierman, pictured above) and a naked dude who meets a very nasty end.
I think we can all agree V/H/S is shaping up to be the independent horror release of the year. It’s got a great plot, a promising group of directors (including Adam Wingard and Ti West) behind the camera, and its anthology format seems to meld perfectly with its first-person style. Check out the clip, synopsis and red band trailer below to get pumped about V/H/S, which is released on VOD August 30th and in theaters October 5th.
