A little while back I had an article that was quite frankly giving me trouble pic-wise. And since I’d recently had the pleasure of seeing SAMHAIN, I chose to toss up some pics of Taylor Hayes. One because she’s gorgeous, but mostly because I remembered on Christian Viel’s film diary about the flick, he talked about how cool she was on set.
A couple of days later the esteemed Mr. Viel got in touch with me to tell me I was right about Taylor’s extreme mensch-iness, and gave me more background on that particular craziness. I thought I’d share his tale with you guys because guys always have the fantasy of the porn star who’s smart, sweet and cool in real life. Clearly Taylor Hayes is the real deal.
Hey Matt!
I happen to share your views in regards to Taylor in Samhain – I had to direct her in the scene. She was originally called in to replace (edited, but I’ll bet you can guess the porn star) who was in jail at the time… However, the producers bailed her out but they couldn’t walk out of their agreement with Vivid so Taylor had to stay in the picture.
They told me the DAY BFORE she was coming in the country. She was flying back from Paris, via Boston and landing in Montreal at 7 AM to be on set at 9…
I had no scenes written for her. No costumes… Nothing. Came up with the breeder idea. Called Adrien Morot and asked if he had a dead baby and something that could pass for an umbilical cord and wrote the
scene overnight. Unfortunately, since it was never planned, it meant a lot of exposition dialogue for poor Taylor who had spent the night in planes…
She learnt the text, did her best, was a bit surprised to find out she would have to be naked in the scene, but did it nevertheless with a smile throughout. Her reward? No pay. She is one of the actresses that never saw her paycheck on that wretched movie…Anyways, I thought you should know… 😉
Christian Viel
Samhain disgruntled director (who wishes that movie was an Allan Smithee movie but unfortunately that nifty title doesn’t exists in Canada)
When people go out of their way to make things work on a movie set, purely for the love of making films, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. And I hope that it makes those who fall short of that feel just a little bit of shame.
