Vin Diesel says that Universal is looking at developing a sequel to Riddick

Speaking to his fans via Facebook, actor Vin Diesel released a new video that has him dancing in celebration of the news that last summer's RIDDICK is now at the top of the DVD charts. Diesel, who has 63.7 million likes on his Facebook page, also relayed that as a result of the film's success, Universal is now looking to develop a sequel, which would make it the fourth entry in the RIDDICK series.

Here's the video (and text):

"I'm just excited, and happy, and I'm shouting out to you guys to say thank you. Universal just called me and told me Riddick is number one on the DVD charts. There's no way Riddick would have been made without you guys. You know that. and you guys have been a part of our page since 2012 and remember how arduous a road it was to get the movie made, and to make it rated 'R,' and to do it with such a low budget. It's a win for all of us and I really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I'm excited, and of course, Universal also says they want to develop the next one."

I recently watched RIDDICK on iTunes and thought it was a lot of fun. The opening "survival" scenes were more intriguing to me than when the bounty hunters entered the picture, but all said it was a fine entry in the series. Diesel has found a character that is wholly his own and he's made a great effort to keep the Furyan rebel alive (along with his rabid fan base). I'm certainly game to watch the steely-eyed badass dispense some bad guys in another outing. What about you?

RIDDICK is now available on blu-ray/DVD. Order it here!
